| Description |
Sewn as issued, preserved in modern marbled folder. Some light browning and spotting mainly to upper margins; title dusty and margins a little stained. Engraved. An unusually large copy completely uncut. Valentine, born in Leicester, went to live in Rome in the early years of the century. Newman writes that the appeal of his works is easy to understand, 'for the lines are songful, the passages fluent and facile, and the phrases clearly defined and balanced' (The Sonata in the Baroque Era, p.316). |
