Description |
Individually sewn in plain green wrappers (outer folds a little worn). Autograph manuscripts, in brown ink on twelve-stave paper, comprising fair copies with some erasures and a few pencil annotations. With a further manuscript copy of both songs, in an unidentified hand, on Schirmer's manuscript paper. With two typescript copies of the text to Enthousiasme (one in French and one in English), both signed by the lyricist. Francis Casadesus studied at the Conservatoire under César Franck (1822-1890), and later became the conductor of the Paris Opéra and the Opéra-Comique. In 1907 he was engaged as a musical reviewer for L'Aurore. |
