Description |
Original embossed calf (front hinge broken). Lacking title-page to second volume. With ownership bookplate of Edward Cheney. Engraved. Leveridge, considered one of the great English basses in the first half of the eighteenth century, was well known for his 150 songs, which he wrote on many different subjects. Most ranged from bawdy drinking songs, to songs of love, all of which seem to be well-represented in this collection. The majority of the songs throughout the two volumes have additional accompaniment for flute. |
