Description |
Blue quarter straight-grained morocco with marbled boards. Engraved. Rated highly by his contemporaries, Schall’s prime importance lies in the ballets that he wrote for the choreographer Vincenzo Galeotti (1733-1816), who appointed him répetiteur and director of the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen in 1776. Grove says that his "models were Gluck and Mozart, but his style is also perceptibly indebted to that of French dramatic music". Lagertha was choreographed by Galeotti and premièred at the Royal Theatre Copenhagen in 1801. |
