Publisher's printed wrappers (edges bumped, backstrip worn and a little repaired). Unopened. Edges foxed. Picchianti was a music theorist, guitarist, teacher and active promoter of the development of the musical culture of Florence. He helped to improve the music school and founded the first Italian music magazine the Rivista musicale fiorentina in 1840 with Ferdinando Giorgetti. As well as writing many articles of music criticism for the Rivista musicale Picchianti also wrote many biographical books, including a biography on Luigi Cherubini (1843). He composed several works for the guitar and some liturgical music. |
