Oblong folio. [iv (title, index, dramatis personae)], 252pp. |
Description |
Modern half leather with marbled boards. Engraved. Some thumbing and upper outer corner of title missing and infilled; few stamps (Gabinetto Musical, Milano" and "Teatro Nacional, Asuncion" [Paraguay]). Some occasional pencil and crayon performance markings, with ornamentation; no.12 ("Il balen del suo sorriso" with red ink English translation. The corner dates on the Ricordi score are interesting: they start incorrectly with February 1852 (sic 1853) and continue to 18 July 1853. It is evident that Ricordi had printed several numbers before the première, but the publication of the entire opera was not announced until 7 August 1853. |
