Description |
Quarter calf (worn, organo part with foot of backstrip missing and front hinge broken) with marbled boards (scratched), old paper label. Engraved. With ownership marks (and numbering of volumes 2-5): "This Book belongs to Barrington Hall, 23rd. Augt. 1818, J. Barrington"; with a manuscript addition relating to Thomas Hastings (b.1778) an Officer serving in H.M. Customs on the Isle of Wight to whom these were given in 1827. The list of subscribers includes Edward Purcell (1689-1740) and Newburgh Hamilton (1691-1761). |
