Affixed to a slightly larger sheet. Edges of printa little worn. Wood engraved portrait of Orlando di Lasso, head and shoulders, directed to the left, wearing a ruff and a medallion around his neck, holding a music score in his hands, in a lettered oval with cartouche at the foot ("Quantum exit melicâ reliquos Orlandus in arte, Aetheriis propior tantum abit ille choris"), surrounded by decorations with flowers and squirrels; possibly an illustration to Jean Jacques Boissard and Johan Adam Lonicer, "Icones virorum illustrium" (Frankfurt, Matthias Becker, 1599) although our image has a different lower right corner with "Aaaz". |
