Publisher's printed pictorial wrappers. Commissioned by the Serge Koussevitzky Music Foundation in the Library of Congress and dedicated to the memory of Serge and Natalie Koussevitzky. The first performance of The Bear was given by the English Opera Group (Monica Sinclair, John Shaw, Norman Lumsden, conductor James Lockhart, producer Colin Graham) on 3 June 1967 at the Aldeburgh Festival. The cover design is taken from photographs by Reg Wilson. |
