Contemporary half leather (worn and cracked) with marbled boards. Some worm-holing to upper inner corners of opening leaves. Exquisite title-page with lady dancing to a gentleman's recorder-playing. Engraved. Includes items from operas by Grétry and Monsigny. Early ownership note on end-paper: "Purchased August 21st. 1903, by Lilian Aylmer Jones from Mrs. Bowen, landlady of the Star Hotel, Woodstock. It was given to Mrs. Bowens [sic] father (or grandfather) who was engineer at Blenheim Palace, by the then Duke of Marlborough". |
