Description Disbound. Slight chipping at outer margins. Engraved. Crescentini was one of the finest and one of the last of the great castrati. He sang in most of the important opera houses in Italy, London, Vienna and Lisbon. He had several pupils including Isabella Colbran the first wife of Rossini. Stendhal wrote that "no composer could have written the infinitely small nuances that formed the perfection of Crescentini’s singing in his aria "Ombra adorata aspetta" [which was] inserted into Zingarelli’s Giulietta e Romeo" (Opera Grove).
