Publisher's printed ornamented wrappers by Anton Strauss, preserved in a half calf and marbled boards box. Engraved. Front free end-paper a little torn, some faint foxing. The fifth state of the first edition, with ca 17 plates re-engraved, twenty-two bars of music on p.5, and other minor differences. Euryanthe was first performed in Vienna on 25 October 1823 conducted by the composer. |
