Single sheet. Line engraving with some etching by Vertue after Paul van Somer (ca 1576-1621), an original painting in the palace of Hampton Court. James is depicted half-length, with closed ruff, embroidered doublet, and George on a ribbon around neck, held in right hand. Within an ornate rectangular frame with coats of arms and crown above. With orb, sceptre, and drapery below, bearing English inscription. |
