Description Disbound. Some foxing. Stipple engraving with some etching by F. Bartolozzi after the drawing by Biagio Rebecca (ca 1735-1808) of Louis François Roubiliac's (1702-1762) statue of Handel which was then in Vauxhall Gardens. Handel's statue by Roubiliac, commissioned by Jonathan Tyers for Vauxhall Gardens, is depicted with Handel full-length, seated, facing forwards with legs partly crossed, wearing headwear, long coat and breeches, and playing a lyre with sun motto at top of the instrument, with a cherub writing in a music book resting on a lute at the composer's feet, all surrounded by trees in the distance. This image was used as a frontispiece in Samuel Arnold's collected edition of Handel's works.
