Polished leather (bumped) with marbled boards (scratched). Title with portrait of the composer engraved by John Keyse Sherwin (1751-1790). Engraved throughout apart from the letterpress 'A succinct account of the author', list of subscribers, index and the 'Advertisement', which is signed and dated by the composer's son: Phil. Hayes. Oxford, December 19th, 1795. List of subscribers (including Charles Burney, Thomas Dupuis, Samuel Arnold, William Parsons, and William Walond, amongst many others). With ownership inscription of "è libris Frederici A. Gore Ouseley, Collegii SS. Michaelis et Angelm. apud Tenbury, Custodis" [Frederick Arthur Gore Ouseley (1825-1889)]. |
