Hinged into a larger lightweight sheet. Line engraving by F. Bartolozzi after the drawing by Giovanni Battista Cipriani (1727-1785), used as plate V (this printing with the title) in Charles Burney's An Account of the Musical Performances in Westminster-Abbey and the Pantheon, May 26th, 27th, 29th; and June the 3d, and 5th, 1784, in Commemoration of Handel (1785). Handel is depicted full-length, seated, facing forwards, in the act of composing, srurrounded by msuci sheets, instruments, a seraph and cherub, set within an ornate laruel framework. |
