Gloss photograph of the composer, half-length, facing left and holding a conductor's baton, signed in ink "Richard Strauss". With an autograph musical quotation, signed, on the verso, comprising two bars of music for Sophie and Octavian from the composer's Der Rosenkavalier; inscribed to Irving Peter Seery (1890-1966) the fourth husband of the soprano Maria Jeritza (1887-1982), and with the additional lines "zur freundlichen Erinnerung an den lieben Besuch mit meiner lieben grossen Sängerin Diemut, Salome, Ariadne, Kaiserin, Octavian, Helena".
