Final free end-paper with letterpress "Hymns for the thanksgiving on the peace" tipped on. Pencilled note on front free end-paper: "Dear Miss Laura, Pray take this ... Miss Hawkins was a subscriber to the Foundling Hospital Guilford Street and attended the Chapel there long before I knew her. This her Brothers told me. Margaret Mitchell gives it to Miss Bryant" - a nice history detailing female book ownership and charitable works. |
