Publisher's cream printed wrappers (backstrip worn with a piece missing), in tissue wrapper. Title printed in red and black. Some of the features which distinguish this from later issues are: the printer named on the title-page and last page of music is Chaimbaud, the performance date on p.[iii] is "20 Mai 1911" and the copyright date on the title-page and p.1 is 1911. Debussy composed this incidental music in 1910-11: it was written for the dancer Ida Rubinstein and was first performed on 22 May 1911 at the Théâtre du Châtelet. |
